New compact trommel
20 March 2008
The new 412 RT tracked trommel introduced by McCloskey has been designed with mobility firmly in mind. This new tracked trommel is equipped with a 1.2 - 3.7 m (4 - 12 ft) screening drum, radial stacker and optional tipping grid that in transport mode is less than 9.7 m (32 ft) in overall length.
The tracked 412 is based on the design of the 412 R wheeled unit, introduced last year, which made use of folded steel in the chassis as opposed to welded plates to provide greater strength, This also provided the McCloskey design engineers with greater flexibility for the internal configuration of the trommel.
The 412 RT is now the smallest McCloskey trommel available with an optional tipping grid for screening heavy-duty materials. The machine's low loading height, large hopper and long track provide contractors with a machine ready for anything'. It can be towed behind a dump truck and is low enough to travel on a regular step-deck trailer, allowing it to be transported straight to any work site.
The 412 RT is currently powered by a Cat 3054C engine producing 80 hp (60 kW) but McCloskey says that a larger class Tier III engine will be available to meet the emission legislation that will come into force in 2008.
