New Italian show has lots to offer
16 June 2009
The new Italian lifting exhibition, GIS (Giornate Italiane del Sollevamento) was held for the first time on 11, 12 and 13 June at Piacenzo Expo. Visitors found plenty to interest them from compact truck mounts and crawler cranes on show for the first time to two of the largest truck mounts in Italy from Bronto and Palfinger Platforms.
CMC took the opportunity to launch its PLA 212 a 21 m working height machine with a 12 m outreach. CMC has achieved the larger outreach through the design of the stabilising frame on the 3.5 t chassis. The PLA 212 also has a +/- 360 degree turret rotation. Carlo Rizzo, from CMC's export office explained that the company is increasing its dealer networks in East and West Europe, Russia and in the Gulf areas, "We are preparing for the upturn he said with new products and a good dealer network."
Mr Rizzo's attitude was repeated by a number of manufacturers, Dr Fabrizio Rossi export manager of Hinowa said that although it was quiet everywhere, "There is a future after the crisis that is why we a developing new machines." Alongside its range of Lightlift spiders, Hinowa was showing its Orchid truck mount which was launched at Intermat in April. Dr Rossi expected production models to be available by November/December this year.
Easy Lift was also promoting its new range of truck mounts which follow the company's design philosophy of a simple effective design with minimum electronics. The EZ220 is the latest: a 3.5 t chassis truck mount with a 21.5 m working height and a 11.5 m outreach. Luciano Conca, of Easy Lift said,"Easy Lift has plans to extend its range of spiders and truck mounts - we are a small active company."
Showing a 90 m working height Bronto Skylift - the largest machine in Italy - was the Italian dealer Pilcher. Chrisoph Pilcher said that the market had been more difficult this year than last but that there were "Applications such as wind turbines, chimneys and skyscrapers for a superior product such as the Brontos.
Many of the Italian manufacturers plan to launch more new machines at SAIE later in the year. Gianpetro Marti of BlueLift said the company would soon be delivering the first of its new two-man 14 m spiders to its German dealer Rothlehner and at SAIE he also expected to be showing a new 18 m spider
