Sykes Pumps in Australia has developed the Yakka 150, a 6 inch, autoprime pump designed “to operate unsupervised over extended periods”. It has a +200 litre fuel tank allowing 30 hour operation at full load at 1800rpm. Sykes, which said the pump is available worldwide, claimed fuel efficiency as one of the Yakka's main benefits, with a consumption of 3,2 l/hr. It will be suitable for customers in construction, municipal, water treatment, mining and quarrying and Sykes said it had already proven popular with rental customers. ‘Yakka’ is an Australian word for hard work.
