Obituary: Frank Scarborough

Access International regrets to report that access industry stalwart Frank Scarborough died on 2 July following a stroke.

Mr Scarborough spent most of his working life in the crane and access industry working at Grove, Snorkel and UpRight. He specialised in sales and marketing, starting out at Grove Manufacturing in the late 1970s, moving to Snorkel in 1986 where he was district manager, and then later becoming vice president of sales and marketing.

In 1992 he joined UpRight as vice president of North American sales, marketing and customer service, returning to Snorkel in 2003 following the closure of UpRight's US business. Mr Scarborough was very instrumental in reviving Snorkel's business under its new owners, to the point where it was bought by the Tanfield Group in the UK.

In 2008 Mr Scarborough left Snorkel and joined American Crane and Tractor Parts in Kansas City, he was said to be planning a partial retirement.

Frank was always a friendly face at exhibitions and industry events, and an extremely knowledgeable and helpful person. He will be greatly missed in the industry.
