Official start for Terex and Topower JV

The chairmen of Terex and Topower joined each other at the official opening ceremony of the companies' new joint venture operation in China.

Ron DeFeo, Terex chairman and CEO and Zhang Yongjiang, Topower chairman of the board, marked the partnership at the presentation in China.

In late 2010, Terex signed an agreement with the privately held Shandong Topower Heavy Equipment Company to manufacture lattice boom crawler cranes. "Our partnership with Topower represents a significant step forward for the Terex Cranes product portfolio and for our presence in the Chinese market," said DeFeo.

"This event provides the opportunity to mark the promising start of our operations and to reinforce our goal of successfully combining the worldwide experience of Terex Cranes with the expertise established by Topower in the Chinese market," DeFeo continued.

With production facilities in Luzhou for truck cranes, in Xiamen for port equipment, and in Jinan for crawler cranes, Terex Cranes already has manufacturing facilities and a well-established distributor network in China.

The company also has sales and service offices in Beijing and Shanghai. Topower sales and after sales teams have joined the Terex Cranes Chinese support network.

Terex Cranes has begun incorporating its lean manufacturing processes into the Jinan factory. Founded in 2007, Topower produces crawler cranes with 70 to 360 tonne lifting capacities serving the energy industry, for the most part, in China and other Asian markets.

Present at the event was a 360 tonne capacity Powerlift 8000, part of the Terex Powerlift crawler crane series.
