Peangl's position

19 March 2008

Austrian rental house Prangl has been expanding its fleet to meet incraeasing demand for its crane rental services. This may be construed as contrary to the impression given by the June Issue ic 50 ranking of the world's largest crane-owning companies. Christian Prangl of the Prangl rental house in Austria told IC that the correct index in tonne-metres for his company would be 171,843. “This would put us in rank 12”, he said, not 38.

Instead of reducing its fleet, Prangl said, the company has, in the last six years, “purchased around 192 mobile cranes. In addition to that we ordered another 58 cranes. The delivery dates, of course, vary. Most of them will be delivered within 2008.”

A highlight of this upcoming fleet expansion is a Terex Demag CC 2800 lattice boom crawler crane with S7 kit. Prangl said this crane was chosen because of its “complete interchangeability with our TC 2800. All the equipment can be used with both machines, especially the S7 kit. Therefore, we can always pick the most suitable machine for the individual surface and site situation. We can now offer a crawler crane (with lattice boom) as well as a truck mounted crane (with lattice boom) with the same lifting capacities.”

From Liebherr Prangl is adding an LR 1280 crawler crane and a pair of LTM 1250-6.1 wheeled mobiles. In addition, Prangl said his company was the first Austrian crane company to add the new generation of Liebherr's LTF to its fleet. “Last year we purchased eight LTF 1045-4.1 and two Liebherr LTF 1035-3.1,” Prangl said.
