Ramirent buys rental activities of SDM

01 April 2011

Ramirent has acquired the rental operations of Czech Republic company Stavební Doprava a Mechanizace (SDM), a three-depot operation that rents a wide range of equipment, although mainly access towers and aerial platforms.

SDM has sold its rental activities only and will continue to operate as an independent company focusing on the sale of aerial platforms. The company sells equipment including Instant UpRight access towers and Snorkel (formerly UpRight) aerial platforms.

SDM was founded in 1992 and employs 10 people in its rental department, who will all join Ramirent. It has rental depots in Prague, Mukařov and Brno, and its fleet includes aluminium scaffolding, power generators, powered access and general light equipment.

"The acquisition is in line with Ramirent's strategy of developing a nationwide coverage in its markets to be close to our customers", said Tomasz Walawender, senior vice president, Ramirent Europe Central.

"The location of SDM's outlets complements well our existing network and brings synergies and will improve our customer service."

SDM's rental operations will be consolidated on 1 April 2011. After the acquisition Ramirent will operate 27 outlets in the Czech Republic.
