Research and development at Metso

02 June 2008

Metso Minerals officially unveiled its new research centre at its Tampere, Finland location on 28th May. Costing some Euro 3 million (US$4.5 million), the new centre will employ some 20 personnel. In a statement, research vice president Jarmo Eloranta said: “The Tampere research and test centre is Metso MInerals’ largest individual investment into research and development. Once it is commissioned, most of the company’s rock testing and analysis will be carried out at Tampere.”

The company says that smaller scale rock testing will be conducted at Metso Minerals’ units in France, the USA, Brazil, India and New Zealand.

The centre will perform two roles: firstly it will crush, screen and analyse samples from customers around the world to determine the most suitable crushing and screening processes and, secondly, form an essential element in the company’s own product development and research activities
