Salini Impregilo has released a statement saying it is closely following developments with Astaldi, following the recent announcement that Astaldi had filed for protection from creditors.

The Italian contractor said it customarily evaluates all opportunities for growth, in order to maintain its position on the global stage for large infrastructure business.

In line with this strategy, Salini Impregilo said it was closely following developments involving companies in the construction sector both in Italy and abroad, and this includes Astaldi. This is done with the aim of evaluating potential options that are consistent with the firm’s core objectives of financial discipline and stakeholder value creation, according to Salini Impregilo.

The group said no decision had been made yet.
