Skanska wins New York bridge contract

Skanska USA has won a US$ 401 million contract to replace the Bayonne Bridge, connecting New York with New Jersey in the US.

The project, a joint venture with Kiewit Construction, is valued at US$ 743 million and includes replacing the main span roadway and bridge approach structures, as well as raising the roadway, and replacing the electrical and drainage systems, as well as painting the bridge.

Construction work has already started, and is scheduled for completion in March 2017.

Skanska’s 54% share of the contract, worth US$ 401 million, will be recorded in the company’s financial report for the second quarter 2013.
