Skyjack appoints new president as Shaughnessy leaves

Linamar Corp has appointed an executive from its automotive components business, Ken Myers, to replace Steve Shaughnessy as president of Skyjack.

Mr Shaughnessy's departure from Linamar was very unexpected - he joined less than a year ago - and neither Skyjack or Linamar has been willing to provide AI with an explanation for the change.

Mr Myers was previously group president of Linamar's Powertrain division in the automotive manufacturing sector. Before joining Linamar, Mr Myers worked with Arvin Meritor Inc of Troy, Michigan, a manufacturer of automotive components, and his career has also included a period as general manager of a roof systems business.

Linamar president and chief operating officer Jim Jarrell said; "We believe that this appointment will offer significant benefits both to the organization and to our customers". Linamar chief executive officer, Linda Hasenfratz, said; "Ken has a great track record for business growth, tailored for today's evolving global market."

Mr Shaughnessy joined Skyjack at the beginning of the year, taking over the role from Ken McDougall who now works at Linamar's Powertrain division. It was his first job at an access equipment manufacturer having spent the majority of his career in the rental sector with companies including Loxam and A-Plant.

IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) has confirmed that Mr Shaughnessy will continue his two year tenure as president of the Federation.

In a statement IPAF said, "The changes and implications were reviewed at a teleconference of the IPAF Board held on 18 October 2010. The Board was keen that Steve Shaughnessy should continue as IPAF President and it was agreed that he will carry out these duties until the matter can be reviewed at the next scheduled meeting of the IPAF Council."
