SNC-Lavalin engineer freed

11 January 2010

Kidnappers in Algeria have reportedly freed an engineer employed by SNC-Lavalin after four days of captivity. The unnamed worker was not harmed.

The worker was kidnapped last week by five armed gunmen as he travelled to a water treatment plant being built by SNC-Lavalin in Djebham.

A ransom of more than US$ 100000 was reportedly demanded by the kidnappers for his safe release, but this is not thought to have been paid.
