Snorkel elevates art in China

Snorkel booms are helping with the installation of artwork at an award-winning shopping mall in China.
The Jing An Kerry Centre in Shanghai is a 450,000 square metre mixed-use development, which includes a six-storey mall. The centre has invested in Snorkel A38E all-electric articulating boom lifts to support its working at height requirements.
They are currently installing a twisted metal sculpture in striking red, by internationally renowned artist Arne Quinze. The Belgian artist, famous for his temporary installation on the Statue of Liberty in New York, has created a 14-piece aluminium artwork for the Jing An Kerry Centre. The pieces weighing a total of 7000 kg, will all be suspended from the ceiling and connected by red laser beams.
Developed by Shanghai Ji Xiang Properties Co., Ltd. and designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the Jing An Kerry Centre was recently named Best Urban Complex 2013 by the Shanghai Times newspaper. It was also awarded LEED Gold Pre-certification from the US Green Building Council.
Centrally located on Nanjing Road West in Shanghai's Jing An District, it includes 86000 square metres of retail space, 152000 square metres of offices, the 508-room Jing An Shangri-La Hotel; 133 residential homes and 1340 car parking spaces.
