Spider, a division of SafeWorks, is working with general contractor Reconstruction Experts Inc. to provide suspended access solutions to enable its workers to carry out inspection and repair work on the Penterra Plaza in Denver, Colorado.

The 280-ft (85-m) tall, multi-terraced commercial and residential building has been fitted with more than 750 ft (230 m) of SpiderRail temporary guardrail to provide OSHA-compliant fall protection along the edges of the building.

Seven modular platforms ranging in length from 20-35 ft (6-10 m) and powered by Zmac hoists, twenty davits, and custom engineered davit adapters, have also been supplied to provide access for the contractors to complete their inspection and repair work to the windows and façade. Spider also brought in a 170-ton (155-tonne) hydraulic crane to load the equipment onto the building.

Reconstruction Experts has been contracted to inspect every weep hole and brick tuck pointing location of the exterior façade, carry out leak and pressure tests on every window fitting, and do corrective glazing work on failed windows.

Spider has been involved in all of the safety planning for this project as well as providing training for all of the mason workers, glaziers and general contractors utilizing the access equipment.
