Star Platforms has taken delivery of a beavertail body mounted on a rigid truck chassis.

UK-based Star Platforms has taken delivery of the first beavertail body to be built and mounted on a rigid truck chassis by AWP specialist Montracon.

Star Platforms specialises in the hire and sale of powered access platforms and the new beavertail truck is being used to deliver/collect rented equipment for customers.

The 9.5m body is mounted on a Mercedes Antos 26 tonne 6x2 chassis and is fitted with a host of safety features for pedestrian and cyclist awareness, including reversing camera, nearside rearward facing camera, left turn audible warning and proximity sensors.

The 7.14 m main deck links to a double cranked beavertail of 2.35m with 3 m double flip ramps, the body being built, shot blasted and painted off-chassis.

Jeff Wright of Montracon commented, “I have many years’ experience providing vehicle’s for the powered access industry and worked closely with Star Platforms to ensure all their requirements were met and that the vehicle is compliant for deliveries to customer projects such as Crossrail.”

Star Platforms joint MD Steve Simmons added, “Jeff’s knowledge and continued input, together with the quality of build, has led to us ordering another two trucks with the same Montracon body. Whilst initially considering outsourcing haulage we reviewed this both internally and with customers and decided to invest in our own, purpose built, delivery vehicles and experienced access-trained drivers to ensure we always provide the highest levels of service & response to our clients”.
