Steiger T470 made flesh

By Maria Hadlow15 April 2009

Shown as a computer simulation at APEX, Ruthmann will launch its Steiger T470 truck mounted aerial platform at Intermat.

The Steiger T470 has a 47 m working height and 32 m outreach; it is mounted on a double axel 18 t GVW chassis which has a total vehicle length of just 10.5 m

By redesigning the boom Ruthmann has created a structure which minimises weight and is still strong. Innova -Orbital Boom Technology has produced a boom with a curved profile using sturdy steel to avoid buckling and wide gliders for a stable and quiet operation.

The jib and cage arrangement at the end of the boom provide additional flexibility. The cage has +/-900 rotation and the cage can be extended hydraulically from 2.3 to 3.6 m.

Ruthmann will also show its Steiger TB 220 a 22 m working height model with 14 m outreach which can be mounted on a variety of chassis in the 3.5 t range.
