Supply and demand

25 April 2008

Roads, bridges, dams, railways and buildings all need a secure supply of aggregate. The 14 quarries owned by Basalto Quarries, part of Grupo Estrutural, one of the fastest-growing aggregate producers in South America, currently supply aggregate throughout Brazil to meet this demand.

Its Quarry Unit 5 and 10, supply the greater São Paulo area. Quarry 5 is a particularly large operation, producing 1.7 million tonnes of aggregates per year. To ensure it is able to meet the current high demand for raw materials in the Sao Paulo area the company has just taken delivery of a Metso HP 400 and HP 500 (High Performance) cone crushers at Quarry 5.
