Crane manufacturer Terex has joined the Italian UNACEA construction machinery and equipment manufacturers’ trade association via the legacy brand company Gru Comedil.

Marco Gentilini, general manager for tower cranes at Terex in Italy, said, “We have decided to join UNACEA because we believe that it is advantageous to work together, both at national and European level, to defend and relaunch the tower crane industry. Within the CECE, we participate to our product group and to the statistical survey.

“In the last years, sales in our industry have been particularly affected by the negative dynamics resulted by the economic crisis of 2008. In particular, our turnover in Italy has been drastically reduced between 2008 and 2014. Thankfully, export has driven our production but it is time that the market growth begins also in our country and this will happen just with a relaunch of the investments in the construction industry.”

Tower crane manufacturer Gru Comedil was established in 1962 in the Northeast of Italy. It is headquartered in Pordenone and was acquired by Terex in 1998.
