Track surveying

25 April 2008

Leica's GRP5000 measures and images railway tracks. Its high measuring density, up to 500000 measured points/second, means the track's position within the tunnel, and subsequent carriage clearance, can be automatically and reliably detected and recorded.

It is suitable for documentation of sections of line for planning purposes and variant studies, thanks to its HDS4500 Scanner. Placed on the track and pushed over the section to be scanned the HDS4500 measures the track environment in 2D mode, the supplied software processes the raw data, evaluates it and creates, in combination with a 3D track survey, a homogeneous 3-D data model. A range of software is available for use with high-resolution geometric images.
