Specialist transport company Van der Vlist transported two 80 tonne pump houses from Turkey to Holland.
The pump houses are for a dredging vessel. The first pump house was moved in one piece and was 5.44 metres long, 5.05 m wide and 2.74 m high. The second pump house was moved in three sections, the first measuring 5.34 x 4.83 x 1.53 m and weighing 52 tonnes, the second was 4.98 x 4.81 x 0.74 m and weighed 30 tonnes and the third measured 3.05 x 3.05 x 0.88 m and weighed 11 tonnes.
For the first part of the journey the loads were lifted onto semi low loader trailers in Ankara, and taken to Derince port. In Derince they were lifted onto a Mafi trailer ready for a roll-on roll-off shipment into Zeebrugge.
On arrival in Zeebrugge the first complete pump house was trans-shipped onto a barge for the final section of its journey into Holland, while the parts of the second pump house were lifted to Van der Vlist’s trailers and driven to site by road.
