The Wirtgen W210 XP is the latest model in the large cold milling machine series

For the Wirtgen Group in the roadbuilding sector, the focus at Intermat will be on innovative machines and technologies for road construction and road rehabilitation.

Two Wirtgen machines will be making their debut at Intermat. The W 210 XP will be seen for the first time – the latest model in the large cold milling machine series. It said that an innovative addition to the compact milling machines’ product range was the 1.80m wide milling drum for the most powerful model in this class, the W 150 CFi. It said it allowed customers even more flexibility in the precise and economical removal of asphalt and concrete pavements.

Wirtgen’s exhibits in Paris will include the compact cold milling machine W 100 CFi and machines for soil stabilisation like the WR 200i wheeled mobile cold recycler and soil stabiliser, the WS 250 tractor-towed stabiliser and Streumaster’s binding agent spreader SW 18 SC.

Vögeleshowcasing mini class paver

Sister-company Joseph Vögele, the road paver manufacturer, will be showcasing its Super 800-3i, from the mini class for pave widths of up to 3.50m.

The compact class is represented by the wheeled paver Super 1303-3i, which Vögele said typically focused on municipal building sites. It can travel up to 20km/h under its own power on public roads. It added that the Super 1800-3i tracked paver also performed well in highway construction.

Hamm grw280i 01

The Hamm GRW280i is said to be the world’s first pneumatic tyre roller

The machine on show at the exhibition has an innovation mounted on the back of its roof in RoadScan, a contactless temperature measurement and control system.

The company said that the ultramodern Offset PowerFeeder MT 3000-2i highlighted the fact that Vögele’s expertise was not limited to pavers.

Hammcompany expansion

Another company from the Wirtgen stable, Hamm, said it had expanded massively in 2017, and at Intermat 2018 it will be presenting a cross-section of its complete product range. This will include rollers from the compact segment, heavy-duty tandem rollers, pneumatic tyre rollers and single-drum compactors for earthmoving.

It will be unveiling what it said was the world’s first pneumatic tyre roller – the GRW 280i. It uses the Easy Drive operating concept, which Vögele claimed ensured intuitive and safe operation. It is also used in the tandem rollers of the DV+ and HD+ series as well as in the single drum compactors of the H series.

Hamm is also showing its tandem roller HD+ 90i PH which has an environmentally-friendly power hybrid drive for the first time. The company claimed that the it had combined a traditional diesel aggregate with a hydraulic accumulator, achieving fuel savings of up to 15%.

With its range of oscillation rollers, the company claims a long-established tradition in engineering and has been offering this technology for the past 35 years – not only for tandem rollers but also for compact rollers and single drum compactors.

The Benninghoven ECO are said to be quick and easy to relocate

Benninghoven – mobility and flexibility

The ECO asphalt mixing plant in the 100 to 320 tonnes/h sector from another Wirtgen group company, Benninghoven, is said to combine state-of-the-art, innovative technologies and a high manufacturing standard in compact containers.

As a result, it said, it guaranteed the highest degree of mobility and flexibility – ECO plants can be operated at a fixed location but can also be relocated quickly and easily.

Benninghoven said the strength of the plants lay in their high level of mobility. Meanwhile, the high-performance modular plants with fixed site options were said to guarantee optimum mix quality.
