UK distribution centre plans

UK-based civil engineering and groundworks contractor O’Brien has been awarded work on LondonMetric Property’s £77m (€107 million) retail distribution centre, near Kettering.

The 98,700m² facility is centrally located within the UK’s Strategic Road Network, with Sir Robert McAlpine appointed as the lead contractor for the scheme.

Groundworks for the project – which has become known as Thunderbird 2 – will be carried out by O’Brien. This includes building the new centre’s foundations, drainage facilities and providing underground services.
