Sir Robert McAlpine has appointed O'Brien contractors for groundworks at the retail distribution facility near Kettering.

UK-based civil engineering and groundworks contractor O’Brien has been awarded work on LondonMetric Property’s £77m (€107 million) retail distribution centre, near Kettering.

The 98,700m2 facility is centrally located within the UK’s Strategic Road Network, with Sir Robert McAlpine appointed as the lead contractor for the scheme.

Groundworks for the project – which has become known as Thunderbird 2 – will be carried out by O’Brien. This includes building the new centre’s foundations, drainage facilities and providing underground services.
