An italian construction firm is using the new XP4500 hydraulic hammer fromPromove to build a new tourist port in Sardinia. The contractors, Costruzioni Maritime SRL, specialise in marine works and are using the hammer for demolition and digging work on granite, on the surface and underwater at a maximum depth of 18 m.

A spokesman for Promove said for underwater application the hammer is equipped with a compressed air connection through a mobile compressor with a capacity of 5000 litres/minute at 4-bar pressure. The pump is regulated at maximum continuous flow to reduce grease washing from the salt water and rubber high pressure hoses are protected with steep spirals, the spokesman added.
