United Rentals has acquired Franklin Equipment, LLC, a regional rental company with 20 locations throughout the Midwest and Southeast, for an undiscolosed price. The acquistion is United’s first in almost three years following its purchase of Canada-based WesternOne Rentals & Sales LP in Nov. 2018.

Franklin Equipment was founded in 2008, and served general contractors in Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. In 2019, the company reported $92 million in rental volume sales.

Matthew Flannery, president and chief executive officer of United Rentals, said, “Today, we welcomed over 300 new members to Team United with our acquisition of Franklin Equipment.

“This transaction expands our presence in key markets for our general rentals business, with an experienced team that shares our pride in delivering superior customer service.”

In late 2020, Franklin Equipment debuted a new used equipment website powered by Rouse, and in 2019, the company opened four new stores in the South.
