05 June 2014

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company, has been named to the 2014 Fortune 500 list for the first time.

The Fortune 500 is an annual list compiled and published by Fortune magazine that ranks the top 500 US public and public corporations by gross revenue.

The list includes publicly and privately held companies for which revenues are publicly available.

United Rentals had 2013 total revenue of US$4.96 billion (€3.59 billion), and total revenues from rental of US$4.6 billion (€3.3 billion).

Following its acquisition of National Pump this spring, the company has an integrated network of 876 rental locations in 49 US states and 10 Canadian provinces

Michael Kneeland, CEO of United Rentals, said, “Our inclusion as a Fortune 500 company is another milestone in what continues to be a period of remarkable growth for our company. This honour is a credit to our employees and customers throughout North America.

“With their support, we are leading the equipment rental industry into a future of service innovation and value creation.”
