US$9 million in cranes at Ritchie auction

More than 90 cranes sold for around US$9 million as part of a Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers unreserved auction in Texas, USA on 26 and 27 August.

The cranes were in a sale of more than 3,300 pieces of equipment and trucks where more than 3,200 people from 42 countries registered to bid. "The large selection of cranes attracted buyers from around the world and the bidding action remained high throughout the entire auction," said Alan McVicker, Ritchie Bros. regional manager. "We had a very successful auction with pricing on equipment and cranes well exceeding our expectations."

Cranes were sold to buyers from countries that included Mexico, Spain, Chile, Venezuela, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Among the cranes sold there were more than 70 rough terrains. others were all terrain, crawler and carry deck cranes. A 2008 Tadano GR-800XL rough terrain sold for $430,000 to a buyer from Canada. An 80 US ton capacity 2006 Link-Belt LS 138H crawler crane went for $425,000 and a 2001 Manitowoc 111 Series B 80 ton capacity crawler made $355,000.
