Viet Soviet Petrol (VSP) has taken delivery of Vietnam's first Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane. The 1,350 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler went straight to work on the construction of Vietnam's latest offshore platform at the VSP fabrication yard in Vung Tau.
The new crane joins a second Liebherr crawler, a 750 tonne capacity LR 1750, delivered to VSP in late 2009.
Both cranes are being used throughout fabrication of modules for the Hai Thatch well head platform for the Bien Dong 1 project. The rig is being built for the Bien Dong 1 Petroleum Operating Co, part of the Vietnam Oil & Gas Group.
The platform forms part of an order comprising two well head platforms, a production and quarters platform, infield and export pipelines plus subsea cables.
At 130 metres tall and on a 50 x 50 m base, the well head platform includes seven template cross-frame structures connected to the platform legs.
Throughout installation of the template these are initially lifted by two crawler cranes and, supported in place by the Liebherr LR1750 throughout welding operations, taking up to two days per template.
