Chinese manufacturer XCMG, best known for its cranes and other construction equipment, has extended its access range with the launch at Bauma China of an 18 m scissor lift, the GTJZ18.

The unit, the largest of the company’s new scissor, is powered by a Cummins 40 kW engine and offers an 800 kg platform capacity. The lift, which features one button outrigger levelling, is built at XCMG’s plant in Xuzhou, Jiangsu.

A spokesman for the company told Access International that the diesel scissor is one of a new range that will include electric models in the 6 to 12 m range. The lifts will be marketed in China but also in export markets.

XCMG has been in the access market for several years, building a range of telescopic booms up to 40 m working height – targeted at the Chinese shipbuilding market – and more recently a series of articulated booms.
