The awards are part of the World Demolition Summit, which starts on Wednesday November 7 with an evening drinks reception.

The event, organised by Demolition & Recycling International in cooperation with the European Demolition Association, will feature a one-day technical conference on the Thursday before the awards dinner that evening.

John Inverdale is the obvious choice to host the awards. Apart from having made a hugely popular appearance at the 2017 event in London, this year’s venue is the world-class conference facilities of Dublin’s Aviva Stadium – the home of Irish rugby and almost a second home to a man known as the BBC’s face of the sport.

As well as his principal role as BBC’s face of rugby, John has covered almost all the major sporting events for television and radio. After fronting rugby and football World Cups, as well as Wimbledon tennis, and Olympic rowing and athletic.

John has anchored the Grandstand and Rugby Special television programmes and hosted John Inverdale’s Football Night and the sports chat show On Side. He has also presented the popular drivetime show on Radio 5 Live and several series of the World’s Strongest Man.

A wonderfully relaxed and dry-humoured presenter, John has been named Sony Broadcaster and Radio Personality of the Year.
