Bigger Multitels for Peter Douglass Platforms

Peter Douglass Platforms, a Stockport, UK based plant hire company has taken delivery of a Multitel MX 270 platform, the largest in its fleet. The unit is the first part of a two-machine order placed with, Multitels UK distributor, Access Industries.

Peter Douglass has operated Multitel platforms for many years: they have both Multitel ALU 16 and ALU 20 platforms in their fleet. Phil Watson joint owner of Peter Douglass Platforms said, "They [the Multitels] have always been extremely reliable, with good back up on the few times when spares or technical support has been needed and they have good customer acceptance.

"We would have purchased a Multitel MX 200 in 2008 but at the time the Multitel lead time was so long that we were forced to go elsewhere to satisfy the needs of our contracts."

The Multitel MX 270 has a 27 m working height and a 13.3 m outreach, with 225 kg cage capacity, the machine will be the largest platform in the Peter Douglass fleet. The MX270 is designed to be easy to operate and has narrow transit dimensions, which, says Access Industries, is the same as for competitors 19 and 20 m platforms on 3.5 t chassis, "we see lots of opportunities for this new platform" said Mr Watson.

The second part of the order is for a Multitel MX 200. This platform will be mounted on a 3.5 t Nissan Cabstar and will be delivered towards the end of April. It will be available on a self drive or with-operator basis. "This is a real full 20 m working height platform, mounted on a 3.5 t chassis cab with a good 200 kg working envelope," said Richard Wood co-owner of Peter Douglass Platforms, "and we look forward to it joining our fleet, albeit somewhat later than we had perhaps initially envisaged".
