Tadano HK heads for steel construction

Lochner Kranverleih has strengthened its fleet with a Tadano Faun HK 70 truck crane.

The Erbendorf, Germany-based rental company ordered the 70 tonne capacity crane on a 5-axle MAN TGS 41.480 chassis and will use it primarily in steel construction. Lochner said it favoured the crane for its ability to travel with all its equipment, including 15 tonnes of counterweight.

Tadano Faun said the HK 70 was designed in close collaboration with Netherlands-based lifting and transport giant Mammoet. The first of its kind was shipped in 2009 on a 4-axle Mercedes Actros chassis, with additional trailing axle. To enable easy customisation, Tadano Faun incorporated the ability to use any chassis into the design of the HK series.

This is the tenth Tadano Faun in Lochner's fleet and the company said it plans to use it for an average of 1,600 operational hours each year. The HK 70 carried out its first construction duties in Regensburg for Lochner Stahlbaumontagen.
