Italian manufacturer Barin has delivered its first AB 23/SL bridge inspection unit to Hong Kong, for use on the Lantau Link bridges.

The Lantau Link is a 3.5 km long series of bridges linking Hong Kong International Airport to the city.

The AB 23/SL is to be used on the Tsing Ma Bridge, a suspension bridge linking Tsing Yi to Ma Wan Island. The machine is able to manoeuvre through suspended spans of the bridge.

The machine is mounted on to a 4-axle Volvo FM420 8x4 truck chassis. The upper structure holds a bucket-type aerial platform, which can work both under bridge and overhead.

The platform is capable of carrying loads of up to 250 kg. It has a horizontal under bridge reach of 23 m and an overhead reach of 26.5 m.
