Huisman and Bakker partnership expands to China
16 December 2010
Offshore heavy lift crane specialist Huisman and maritime electronics and installation company Bakker Sliedrecht are expanding their existing collaboration to China.
The Huisman production facility in Fujian will expand with a workshop supervised by Bakker for the production of electronically controlled drive systems. This will result in a saving on the cost of such systems, says Huisman.
The collaboration will also provide a broader package for customers, according to Huismann, enabling commissioning from one location.Huisman's Product Data Management system (PDM) will be used for joint engineering data.
The necessary investments are now being made to enable an immediate start with a fully equipped workshop. "We have researched the opportunities and benefits for the market thoroughly in advance as we will both invest a lot of knowledge, capacity and time. We are both confident that this collaboration will turn into a success," says Jan Noorlander at Bakker Sliedrecht.
Huisman's Jens Ekelaar, manager of hydraulics, electrical and control systems, confirmed that mutual knowledge and trust was an important factor in the partnership. "Both companies play a leading role in the industry. Huisman currently focuses mainly on the expansion of the production, sales and engineering capacity. Bakker Sliedrecht aims to acquire more international projects, such as from Asian yards. Through our collaboration in China we can reinforce each other in realizing our ambitions."
