Poole Harbour in the UK has taken delivery of a Sennebogen 870R material handler, the first of its type in a British Port, according to distributor EH Hassell, which sold the unit. It will handle hook, bulk and scrap cargoes. The specification included a 5 m pylon between the upper and the crawler frame, a 25 m materials handling boom with 24 m reach, and a 300 kW water cooled Deutz diesel engine. Also specified was a 17 tonne carbody counterweight to maximise stability, two swing gears to evenly distribute side loading on the slew bearing for fast duty cycle operations, a hydraulically adjustable cab to give an eye level up to 13 m above ground, and an extra 2500 litre bunded fuel tank to reduce refuelling intervals. For lifting duty a 15 tonne hook was specified with a safe load indicator to comply with Docks Regulations.
