The R 946 on display on the stand attracts a lot of attention

New demolition excavators are thin on the ground at bauma, with the sole new machine being shown on the Liebherr stand in the shape of this 44.6 tonne R 946 tracked excavator powered by a IIIB compliant Liebherr 6 cylinder diesel developing 200 kW (272 hp) at 1,800 rpm.

The new machine is based on the R 946 introduced last year at Intermat and is fitted with 4.3 m(14.1 ft) boom and a 3.3 m (10.8 ft) dipper. With a second 3.m dipper, the machine can reach heights up to 15 m (43.7 ft). The maximum tool weight at that height is 2 tonnes
