Mammoet receives award for lift in Malaysia

Malaysia-based oil and gas company Petronas has given Mammoet a recognition award for excellence in safety and in timely execution of the work performed by the company.

The international heavy lift and transport company helped Petronas mark another milestone as its propylene fractionator - one of the components for their Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) - measuring 121.3 metres and weighing 1,808.6 tonnes, was recognized by the Malaysia Book of Record as the tallest and heaviest process column in Malaysia.

The award was presented by the Malaysia Book of Record’s director of operation, Christopher Wong Hong Wai, during the arrival ceremony at PIC in Pengerang, Johor.

The award was received by Ben Schulte, operations director of Mammoet Asia-Pacific (APAC).

Mammoet provides the majority of the heavy lifting and transport of oversized and heavy components for the PIC development, the company said. This development is at Tanjung Setapa Malaysia, where Petronas is developing a US$ 26 million refinery and petrochemical integrated development project and other associated facilities.

To date, Mammoet has moved nine heavy vessels and columns for the steam cracker facility from the material offloading facility (MOLF) Tanjung Setapa to the laydown area.
