Salini Impregilo has won a €135 million contract to design and build a 14.4km section of the S3 Expressway in western Poland close to the city of Wroclaw.

Meanwhile, the Italian-based group has also been awarded a contract for the construction of the civil works on a hydroelectric plant in Turkey.

The Polish expressway work, which will last for 30 months, includes three junctions at Kazmierzow, Polowice and Lubin Polnoc.

Salini Impregilo said the contract consolidated its presence in Poland’s infrastructure sector, where the group is building several road projects – the A1, S7, S8. It is the group’s fourth award in Poland this year, amounting to a total of €574 million.

Work on the S3 will be carried out with local partner Pribex.

In Turkey, Salini Impregilo Group has an 85% share in a joint venture with local company NTF for the construction of the civil works related to the Cetin main hydroelectric plant on the Botan river, a tributary of the Tigris River in the province of Siirt, in the southeastern part of the country.

The value of the contract is €260 million and involves the construction of a rock-fill dam with an asphalt core, 145m in height, with a volume of 11.5 million m3, intake works, spillway and open-air power plant for an installed power of 400MW and 1,100GWh/year.
