ALE commence the land transportation for the SOCAR Fertilisation Project

UK-based heavy lift and specialized transportation service provider ALE has been awarded the contract for the SOCAR Fertilisation Project in Azerbaijan.

The contract involves transporting more than 40 out-of-gauge, super out-of-gauge and super heavy units to the fertilisation plant, as well as the provision of project management and engineering solutions. The project is the biggest one to date that the branch has been awarded in the Caspian and Central Asian region, an ALE spokesperson said.

The cargo is being offloaded at the port in Baku and transported 100 km to the site based in Sumgayit. The heaviest unit to be delivered to date weighed 367 tonnes.

Fuad Mammadov, ALE regional business development manager, said, “We faced tough competition to secure the contract; one of the major factors that allowed us to become the assigned contractor is market knowledge, technical expertise and availability of the equipment. We are making progress with the project and to deliver cargo weighing in excess of 350 tonnes is a great achievement for the region so far.”

The project began in October 2015 and is scheduled for completion in September 2016.
