Star receives Silver award

27 April 2017

UK-based Star Platforms has been awarded the FORS Silver accreditation following an audit of its transport operation.

The FORS accreditation scheme covers all aspects of safety, fuel efficiency, vehicle emissions and improved operations.

Operations director Ian Mitchell said, "We are very proud of this achievement which demonstrates our commitment to safety within operation as well as we affect the environment and those outside our business.

"As well as being IPAF-trained, our drivers have all attended the Safe Urban Driver course, providing greater awareness of those around them, especially cyclists. In addition, all trucks are all fitted with the very latest camera and nearside warning alert systems.

"Drivers have satellite navigation to ensure efficient routing and telematics have been fitted across the fleet to measure our fuel usage and CO2 emissions and we are already seeing a reduction of both."
