Vinci performs well

01 September 2010

An increase in revenue and profit for the first half of 2010 is being reported by Vinci, the world's leading concessions and construction group.

It said that in a still uncertain economic climate, Vinci's companies performed well overall in the first half of this year.

In concessions, there was an improvement in the principal economic indicators, and a growth in revenue and profit.

It reported that the operating margin remained stable overall in contracting, and was in line with targets despite a decline in business on a comparable structure basis. Revenue in the first half rose slightly as a result of the consolidation of electrical engineering group Cegelec since mid-April.

It said that drawing on the synergies between the contracting and concessions activities, its positioning in the infrastructure market and its specialised businesses, Vinci had won a number of large projects, particularly in emerging markets. This drove the order book up to € 28,4 billion at June 30. Excluding Cegelec, the order book rose by about +10%.

Vinci's consolidated revenue for the first half of 2010 was € 15.5 billion - up +2,3% against the same period last year.

Chairman Xavier Huillard said, "Our first half 2010 performance in France and internationally demonstrates yet again the resilience of our concession-construction business model."
