Zeppelin Group has acquired Blohm + Voss Inspection Service GmbH, a subsidiary of Blohm + Voss Shipyards GmbH in Hamburg, and will add it to its Zeppelin Rental division. The price was not disclosed.
The acquisition comes less than a month after Zeppelin acquired a large part of the Streif Baulogistik rental business from Hochtief.
Blohm + Voss Inspection Service, which trades under the BIS Inspection Service name, provides testing and inspection services for mainly industrial customers in sectors including shipbuilding, ship repair, power generation, aviation and automotive and mechanical engineering. Its services include non-destructive testing.
The business trades will operate as a subsidiary of Zeppelin Rental under its existing manager, Uwe Cohrs.
"The company has more than a strong market position, particularly in Northern Germany, highly qualified experienced staff and long-standing customer relationships," said Wolfgang Hahnenberg, chairman of Zeppelin's rental business unit, "With this acquisition, we are expanding our expertise in materials testing, and it promises important synergies, specially with our Geschäftsfeld Industrial Services business.”
Geschäftsfeld Industrial Services rents equipment, provides training services and consulting on welding technology and carries out material testing.
